Occupational Therapy

Parents know and understand their children better than anyone else. Teachers observe children in a challenging educational environment. Therefore, both parents and teachers are most able to identify children who are frustrated and struggling with what are typically considered to be the simple tasks of growing up: coloring, cutting with scissors, dressing, tying shoelaces, riding a bicycle, printing, writing, playing... If a child is experiencing difficulties with performing daily living, play and school activities, he/she may present with inappropriate behaviours and/or low self esteem, lacking confidence to attempt more challenging complex tasks.

An Occupational Therapist is able to assist family members and school personnel in identifying and understanding your child's unique strengths and areas of difficulty, including the sensory and motor foundation skills which may be poorly developed and the underlying problem.

An Occupational Therapist is able to provide information and recommendations to families and school personnel to assist your child in accomplishing tasks successfully.

Occupational Therapy is able to provide your child with activities which offer the "just right challenge" in a risk-free environment where he/she is able to develop the necessary foundation skills and learn strategies that will enable your child to successfully participate in activities and perform tasks once considered to be too difficult and frustrating.
